Winemaker, Adrien Valenzuela is from Salinas, CA. He worked his first harvest in 2012. He worked both the 2012 and 2013 harvest as a lab technician intern at both Gonzales Winery and Estancia Winery. Adrien was hired on full time in January of 2014 and worked as a full time Lab Technician until July of 2016 at Gonzales Winery. During that time for the harvest of 2015 he was brought on to the winemaking team as the Enologist Intern at Gonzales Winery. In July of 2016 Adrien was promoted as Enologist at Gonzales Winery until he was promoted to Assistant Winemaker in December of 2017, and most recently to winemaker in early 2021.
Adrien also worked the harvest of 2015 for Ian Brand as a harvest intern, and in the spring of 2017, as a harvest winemaker at Kim Crawford in New Zealand.
Adrien made his own wine in 2013 Monterey County Cabernet Sauvignon which won a Gold Medal at the Mid State Fair home winemaking competition. In 2015 he made a Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir.
Adrien has an Associates degree in Biology, and completed the UC Davis online Winemaking Certificate.
Adrien is proud of his heritage. He is Mexican American. His father is from Mexicali, Mexico and his mother is from Salinas California.
